Power of Paradox
The Power of Paradox
(Reader Discretion Advised)
The term “Paradox” is from the Greek word, “paradoxon”, meaning contrary to expectations, existing belief, or perceived opinion. (Literarydevices.net)
I was the rebel in my Catholic, dysfunctional family of eight (products of natural family planning). Doing the opposite of what I was told was my friend. Challenging the status quo, authority figures, and asking “Why”?, taught me to be strong. This wondrous propensity towards paradox has blessed me. I will reveal the way. Become a quintessential contrarian, and your path to abundance, health and happiness will flow to you. I dare you.
Are you ready to morph your life in ways wild dreams are made of? The following are secrets to life’s challenges that will change your beliefs, and break toxic cycles. Let’s explore how changing our perspective in key areas of our lives reaps unlimited rewards.
Desires
True abundance flows from emptiness. The energy of consumption is never satisfied, and leads us with a longing for more. The excessive pursuit of material, intellectual, or emotional consumption is futile, unless there is a regenerative cycle of giving and receiving. Our desires and expectations lead to emptiness, if out of a position of need or lack. Embrace a life of simplicity, centered on letting go, and manifest deep self-love and trust in life.
Love
As long as you exude need, you drive people away from you. People are drawn to confident, heart-filled people, not desperation. Focus on how to be your best self, and fully express the divine energy in a way that enhances life. Love and nurture yourself, be self-aware, and meet your needs. Only then can we practice loving kindness, and focus on the needs of others. Our hearts will be open, and we will be energized at home, work and play!
Success
The paradox of success is that more success involves risks and failure. We need to change our orientation to failure. Failure is a natural byproduct of being driven, and reaching goals. Replace fear with trust, and as Eleanor Roosevelt said “Do one thing every day that scares you”. Be led by the unknown. Say hello to your shadow.
Shadow
What we resist grows stronger. The more we fight or deny: pain, feelings, our shadow side, the greater our suffering will be. Lose the resistance to the pain, fully experience, and release. Look for the hidden meaning, and underlying cause, in the jewel of suffering. By embracing the challenge with a “broken open” heart, we own, neutralize, and facilitate healing and peace.
Death
Lastly, death teaches us to revere this sacred gift of life, and love more completely. Death gives meaning to life. To savor every moment, as if it were our last is to live life fully open and alive. I continue to gain wisdom and hope from the cancer and hospice clients I am humbled to serve. We are meant to thrive, be blissfully happy, and love our authentic life, filled with passion and purpose. Use the “Power of Paradox” in your life, and be magically rewarded. Take a deep breath, hold it, own whatever is holding you back, and … release, exhale. It’s simple, yet transformative, paradoxically!
